ITINERARY:

Day One ~ Arrival in Vancouver

Upon arrival in Vancouver, transfer on your own to your overnight accommodation. The remainder of the evening is yours to relax or explore this beautiful ocean-side city. Overnight in Vancouver

Day Two ~ Vancouver to Victoria Sightseeing

Your day begins with a scenic drive through the Fraser River Delta to the Tsawwassen Ferry terminal. Board one of the B.C. Ferries for a spectacular cruise through the Gulf Islands marine wonderland. Take two hours to explore the world renowned Butchart Gardens with their 50-acre display of magnificent color. In Victoria, B.C.'s capital, you will drive through the exclusive Uplands, Oak Bay residential districts and along the Saanich Peninsula to show you many panoramic views. When the tour is complete, you will be brought back to your Vancouver hotel where you will have the rest of the day to relax. Overnight in Vancouver

Day Three ~ Vancouver to Port Hardy

After checking out of your hotel, make your way to the South Terminal of the Vancouver International Airport where you will board Pacific Coastal Airlines for your flight to Port Hardy. This short flight will give you some great aerial views of coast British Columbia and Vancouver Island. Upon arrival in Port Hardy, transfer to your overnight accommodation. Overnight in Port Hardy

Day Four ~ Port Hardy to Prince Rupert

This morning, embark on a full day of cruising the sheltered waters of the Inside Passage. During the length of this 16 hour journey, a wonderful array of snow-capped mountains combined with rich forests provide a background for a series of dramatic fjords. Killer whales, sea lions and playful porpoise often appear in these waters, so keep your camera close at hand. Arrive at the seaport of Prince Rupert and transfer by taxi to your hotel. Day Five ~ Sightseeing in Prince Rupert

North Coast whale watching is acknowledged as one of the most accessible and predictable locations to see Humpback Whales, also known as the big winged whale. Today, they are yours to discover. Be prepared for a truly memorable experience as you explore the marine environment of the North Coast. An adventure experience of a lifetime! Note that in May and June, you will spend your time Grizzly Bear Viewing instead of searching for whales. Overnight in Prince Rupert

Day Six ~ VIA Rail's "Skeena" from Prince Rupert to Prince George

Early this morning, transfer to the Prince Rupert train station and board VIA Rail’s “Skeena”. The railroad travels up the stunning Skeena River valley, passing jagged mountain peaks, canyons, native totem poles and bald eagles. Towns such as Terrace, New Hazelton and Smithers are also en route. Along with the scenery and fascinating regional history, enjoy first-class service in “Totem Class” (including breakfast, lunch and dinner) and exclusive use of the dome car and lounge. Upon arrival at the Prince George train station, transfer to your selected hotel. Note: For departures starting in May and end of September, "Totem Class" onboard the Skeena is not available. Passengers will travel in "Economy" that does not offer included meals. Overnight in Prince George

Day Seven ~ VIA Rail's "Skeena" from Prince George to Jasper

This morning, return to the Prince George train station and re-board VIA Rail’s “Skeena” for the continuing journey to Jasper. The route today follows the famous Fraser River. Enjoy breakfast and lunch onboard (included but seasonal). Keep your eyes open for grizzly bear, moose, beaver and osprey! Pass the historic settlements of McBride and Tete Jaune Cache on the way to the Yellowhead Pass, and then pass Mount Robson, (3,954 meters/12,970 feet), the Rockies’ highest peak. Crossing into the Province of Alberta, arrive by late afternoon in the peaceful alpine town of Jasper. A transfer to your selected hotel is provided upon arrival. Overnight in Jasper

Day Eight ~ Jasper to Banff Sightseeing

Venture southward along one of the most scenic highways in the world. The Icefield Parkway is highlighted by frequent wildlife sightings, glacier-fed lakes, waterfalls and broad-reaching valleys that meet majestic peaks. At the Columbia Icefield, an opportunity to tour the Athabasca Glacier on board one of Brewster's environmentally-sensitive Ice Explorers awaits. From the Icefield Centre, continue your journey along the Parkway to Lake Louise and Banff. Overnight in Banff

Day Nine ~ Sightseeing in Banff

Today, visit Bow Falls, Surprise Corner and Tunnel Mountain with your informative Brewster Driver/Guide on a 4 hour morning excursion of Banff. Your tour is complimented by a gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain for spectacular views of the Bow Valley, Banff townsite and surrounding areas. This evening, take in some more sights and sounds on an evening wildlife cruise on Banff National Park’s largest lake – Lake Minnewanka. Overnight in Banff

Day Ten ~ Departing Banff

A morning checkout from your hotel and a drive out of the Rockies and through Alberta’s foothills ends your Canadian Rockies Discovery.
