Your journey begins in Vancouver, where snowfall adds a new ambiance to the coastal vistas and sightseeing opportunities abound. While here, you will visit one of the city’s most beloved attractions, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, for a walk amongst the treetops all while surrounded by glittering lights. Your VIA Rail train also waits in Vancouver, and it is aboard the rails that you will journey into the postcard-perfect winter scenery of the Canadian Rockies. In the Rockies, you will visit the towns of Jasper and Banff, where the coldest months of the year are some of the most thrilling. Your days will be spent exploring the mountain locales with guided tours, taking a carriage ride through the snow, enjoying winter sports and checking items off your travel bucket list in your ample free time. Day 1 - Arrive Vancouver
Arrive in Vancouver and make your way to your centrally located hotel. Upon check-in, you will have the remainder of the day to take in the scenery of the city, to sample the ever-impressive local cuisine or to begin your sightseeing. Overnight Vancouver.

Day 2 - Vancouver/Capilano Suspension Bridge
The day is yours to experience all the best of Vancouver. Stanley Park is simply beautiful when covered in snow, and Grouse Mountain - known as the Peak of Vancouver - offers Skyrides, a grizzly bear sanctuary, winter hikes, ski paths and more. Staying in the city, there is plenty to explore, as well. Historic Gastown is a trendy destination for sightseeing, shopping and dining. Downtown you can find shops, museums and art galleries. There is even an aquarium and a science center to enjoy.

As dusk falls, head to the Capilano Suspension Bridge for a journey amongst the dense evergreen forests of Vancouver. As you walk above the treetops, you will be surrounded by thousands of colorful lights, as this attraction turns into a true wonderland during the winter months. Overnight Vancouver.

Day 3 - VIA Rail Vancouver to Jasper
Continue your independent sightseeing adventure through Vancouver today. Later, take a taxi (included) to the VIA Rail Station, where you will board the iconic Canadian. As you settle into your overnight accommodations, the train begins its journey out of the city en route to Jasper in the Canadian Rockies. You will have access to the domed sightseeing lounge during your journey, from which the winter landscape comes to life through panoramic windows. Overnight train. (D)

Day 4 - Jasper
Enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast in the Dining Car and watch as the rugged mountain peaks come into view as you approach Jasper. When the train arrives at the station, walk across the street to pick up your rental car for the next 7 days. Check into your hotel, and the remainder of the day is yours to explore however you see fit. Perhaps take a ride aboard the Jasper Skytram or visit the Jasper Museum to learn more about the region. Day 5 - Jasper Wildlife Discovery Tour
This morning, get in touch with the wild side of Jasper as you tour the Athabasca Valley. See animals such as moose, wolves, deer, elk and mountain goats throughout the valley. A knowledgeable guide will narrate the tour and offer interesting facts about the flora, fauna and wildlife of Jasper National Park. Following the tour, you will have the rest of the day at leisure. Day 6 - Jasper
Imagine the possibilities; the entire day is yours to explore Jasper. As one of the premier winter destinations in Canada, there are an abundance of skiing, snowboarding, skating and snowshoeing opportunities. You can venture into Jasper National Park to enjoy the serenity of nature on one of the hiking paths or you can rejuvenate your body and soul at Miette Hot Springs or one of the local spas. The options are limitless. Should you prefer an organized activity, you have the option to embark on a guided 3-hour icewalk through Maligne Canyon today. Overnight Jasper.

Day 7 - Drive to Banff
Take one last look around Jasper as you load up your car this morning and begin your drive to Banff. The route between the two Rocky Mountain destinations is incredibly scenic, with glaciers, soaring mountain peaks, lush forests and winding passes to pique your interest. You may drive straight through or stop off at one of the many scenic attractions along the way, including Bow Lake, Lake Louise, Cave and Basin National Historic Site or one of the numerous waterways, mountains and canyons. As you arrive in Banff, check in at your hotel and spend the rest of the day getting acquainted with the town. Overnight Banff.

Day 8 - Banff
A winter wonderland awaits your exploration, as you have an entire day to enjoy the amenities of Banff. There are numerous shops, museums and galleries throughout town, as well as wonderful restaurants that offer an authentic taste of local fare. Maybe spend your day dipping your toes in Banff Upper Hot Springs or soaring above the trees on the Banff Gondola. You also have the option to set out on a guided tour of the region, such as a snowshoeing tour to Marble Canyon, which offers a look at one of Canada’s most traditional methods of transportation, beautiful Banff National Park scenery and plenty of wonderful photo opportunities. Day 9 - Banff
Another day at leisure, you can answer the call of the wild by exploring Banff National Park or spend your time exploring the sites and attractions in and around Banff. You also have the option to set out on an exciting sightseeing tour this morning, which highlights some of the best of Banff, the wildlife that calls the park home and the beauty of the Bow Valley. This afternoon, a sleigh ride through the snow-covered landscape offers an unforgettable conclusion to your trip. Overnight Banff.

Day 10 - Departure
Depart from Banff this morning and make your way to Calgary International Airport for your return flight home. For convenience, you will return your rental car at the airport.
