Your 7-day tour includes time at leisure in Vancouver, first-class sleeping accommodations aboard VIA Rail's Canadian, and access to the Skyline Car and the Park Car for amazing views of the passing scenery. You'll arrive in Toronto relaxed, refreshed, and ready to discover all the treasures of this city.

Itinerary

Day 1- Vancouver
Arrive in the coastal city of Vancouver and check-in to your hotel. Located in the heart of the city, you're close to many of the top attractions, shops, and restaurants. Spend time exploring this scenic city on your own. Included is admission to the Vancouver Lookout, offering panoramic views of the city.. Overnight in Vancouver.

Day 2 - Vancouver / VIA Rail's Canadian
Spend the morning and early afternoon taking in all Vancouver has to offer. Visit Granville Island, historic Gastown, or take a hike through Stanley Park. Later on, transfer by taxi (included) from your hotel to the train station, settle in to your Sleeper Plus accommodations on VIA Rail’s Canadian and prepare for your trans-Canada rail journey. Your first-class accommodations convert from a sitting room by day to comfortable upper and lower berths by night. Overnight train. (D)

Day 3 - En Route to Jasper
Awake this morning to the beauty of the Canadian Rockies. Take advantage of your access to the Park Car and Skyline Car, offering panoramic views of the passing scenery. Overnight train. (B, L, D)

Day 4 - En Route to Toronto
Today's travels take you through Saskatoon, Canada's leader in the high technology and mining industries, and Melville, named after Charles Melville Hays, President of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railroad Company. Spend the day chatting with other travelers, enjoying the sweeping views from the sightseeing lounges, or relaxing in your comfortable accommodations. Overnight train. (B, L, D)

Day 5 - VIA Rail to Toronto
A highlight of today's scenic trip includes Longlac, which, located at the northern tip of Long Lake, played an important role as part of the historic canoe route for fur traders. Overnight train. (B, L, D)

Day 6 - Toronto
Your train is scheduled to arrive in Toronto this afternoon. On your last day on the Canadian, spend time in the Park Car enjoying its three salons and observation deck as well as the Skyline Car with an observation dome offering 360-degree views of the ever-changing landscape. Overnight Toronto. (B, L)

Day 7 - Toronto Departure 
Your rail tour through the heart of Canada ends this morning. You may wish to extend your stay in Toronto in order to better explore this cosmopolitan city, or, transfer to the airport for your return flight home.

Hotels include the Georgian Court in Vancouver and Chelsea Hotel in Toronto. VIA Rail accommodations are in Sleeper Plus Class in a semi-private berth. Meals are included onboard the train along with access to the Park Car with its lounges and 360-degree panoramic views.

Hotels include Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre* and Sheraton Centre Toronto. VIA Rail accommodations are in Sleeper Plus Class in a private cabin. Meals are included onboard the train along with access to the Park Car with its lounges and 360-degree panoramic views.

Deluxe Accommodations
Hotels include The Fairmont Waterfront Vancouver and The Fairmont Royal York Toronto. VIA Rail accommodations are in Sleeper Plus Class in a private cabin. Meals are included onboard the train along with access to the Park Car with its lounges and 360-degree panoramic views.

Canadian
In operation since the year 1955, the Canadian is an iconic locomotive. This train started its life as the flagship train of the Canadian Pacific Railway and was taken over by VIA Rail in 1978. Since its new ownership, this first-class train has operated on a route that takes travelers over 4,460 kilometers from Vancouver to Toronto, or from Toronto to Vancouver, depending on their travel preference. Travel through the rugged peaks of the Canadian Rockies, the colorful countryside and well-known cities, including Jasper, Edmonton and Winnipeg, over the course of 4 days and 3 nights.

The Prestige Sleeper Class provides an exciting new level of comfort and service for all travelers on the Canadian, one of the world's greatest train journeys.
