Itinerary

Day 1- Arrive Vancouver
Your flight arrives in Vancouver today, and upon landing, you will travel through the city on your own to your centrally located hotel. Your hotel has been selected based on its premier location, and this puts you within walking distance of many of Vancouver’s best sites. Lucky for you, you have all day to explore them. Stanley Park and Gastown are ever-favorite destinations throughout the city, though there are also great parks and museums explore, beautiful beaches to see and a long seawall to walk along. Being one of the most ethnically diverse cities in Canada, Vancouver also features fantastic restaurants and a variety of landmark locales that highlight the culture of the city. Day 2 - Vancouver Sightseeing/VIA Rail to Jasper
This morning you will embark on a Hop-on Hop-off trolley tour through Vancouver. This narrated tour gives you a look at many stops throughout the city, including major sites such as English Bay Beach and the attractions throughout Stanley Park, as well as at smaller destinations, like art galleries. In all, the tour follows a route that takes approximately 2 1/2 hours to complete. Following the tour, enjoy the sights on your own before you embark on a train journey across Canada this evening. Your first-class rail experience begins transfer from your hotel to the Vancouver train station, then with priority check-in. Once onboard the Canadian, settle in to your onboard accommodations and prepare for your evening departure to Jasper. A delectable dinner will be served on the rails. Overnight train. (D)

Day 3 - Jasper Arrival
When you awake this morning, you will be surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Canadian Rockies. The Canadian will arrive at Jasper’s train station later this morning, and you will transfer on your own to your hotel at that time. This town is known for its majestic mountain peaks and floating icefields. Spend the remainder of the day hiking or biking the area, soaking in the hot springs or riding the Jasper Tramway. Day 4 - Jasper Sightseeing
Today embark on your Discover Jasper tour. Travel the trails of the early explorers and view the Park's unspoiled grandeur. Your journey begins along the mighty Athabasca Canadian Heritage River where you will learn about David Thompson and the valley ecosystem. Hike above Maligne Canyon with its narrow gorge and limestone walls created by 10,000 years of water erosion and visit a place of mystery and Native legend at Medicine Lake. Keep your camera handy on your adventure to Maligne Lake, the largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies, because you are sure to see a variety of mountain wildlife! Overnight Jasper.

Day 5 - Jasper National Park/ VIA Rail to Toronto
With so much nature to explore at Jasper National Park, you will be glad to have today to tour, hike, bike and enjoy nature, as well. Set out on a tour with a guide, or make your way through the wilderness independently - the choice is yours. Alternatively, Jasper Townsite is also lovely, with its array of shops and eateries, laid-back charm and spectacular scenery.

This evening, you will transfer back to Jasper’s train station to re-board the Canadian, this time bound for Toronto. Find your onboard accommodations and get settled in for the first of three nights on the train. Overnight train.

Day 6 & 7 - En Route to Toronto Wildlife at Its Best
The Canadian continues on through the ever-changing landscape of Canada. You will travel along winding mountain tracks, over bridges and through tunnels. You will see beautiful forests, teeming with wildlife, as well as serene expanses of rural countryside, such as those found in the Canadian Shield of Ontario. Best of all, as these magnificent sights unfold, you have the option to see them from the comfort of your own private cabin or from one of the sightseer lounges aboard the train. You will have ample time to mingle with the fellow travelers aboard the train, as well as to enjoy all the amenities the train has to offer. As a Sleeper Plus Class guest, you will savor fresh, chef-prepared meals in the Dining Car, as well as complimentary drinks and snacks. Overnight train. (2B, 2L, 2D)

Day 8 - Arrive in Toronto
As you awake this morning, rural Canada will begin to fade into the distance as the Canadian approaches the city of Toronto. The train is scheduled to arrive this afternoon, and as you disembark, transfer on your own to your hotel. You will have a change you drop off your luggage and freshen up, then it is out to get a look at the city on a 12-mile Hop-on Hop-off sightseeing tour through Toronto. You will see 20 of the city’s best sites, including the Hockey Hall of Fame, CN Tower, Kensington Market, Chinatown and Queen’s Park, amongst others. As the tour concludes, you will have some time to sightsee through the city on your own before returning to the hotel for the evening. Overnight Toronto. (B, L)

Day 9 - End of Tour
Your Canada rail vacation comes to an end this morning. A shuttle will take you from your hotel to the airport, and from here you may return home or extend your vacation with a flight to another city.
