Day 1 - Toronto, Canada's Largest City
Welcome to Toronto, Canada’s largest city! A shuttle bus will escort you from the airport to your centrally-located hotel, where you are only minutes away from some of Toronto's most famous attractions. After settling in, the day is yours to explore the city on your own. Downtown Toronto offers unique shops to browse, an array of ethnically diverse restaurants to satisfy any appetite, exciting nightlife options to kick-start your vacation, and plenty of local entertainment. Day 2 - Toronto Sightseeing and Departure for Jasper
Today, embark on a Hop-On Hop-Off sightseeing tour of Toronto that makes 20 stops along a 12-mile route through the city's core. See all the sights that have made Toronto famous including the St. Lawrence Market, Queen Street, and the CN Tower. You may choose to revisit some of your favorite sights to explore them further or indulge in some of Toronto's gastronomic treats before you embark on your train journey across Canada this evening.

Your first-class experience begins with priority check-in at Toronto's Union Station. Once onboard the Canadian, you’ll be escorted to your private sitting room, which converts to a bedroom by night. The staff will see that you are settled into your room and brief you on the dining schedule before departure. Overnight aboard the train.

Day 3 - VIA Rail Toronto to Jasper
When you awake on day three, the train is nearing the small town of Gogama, Ontario. Head to the Dining Car for a hot breakfast before exploring the amenities onboard the train. First-class passengers have access to all of the lounges on board the train as well as to the Skyline Car featuring an observation dome offering 360-degree views and the Park Car with three different salons and an upper observation deck. Both the Skyline and Park Cars offer impressive views of the passing scenery and are a wonderful location for photo opportunities along your trip so be sure to bring your camera! Beautiful forests, sparkling lakes, towering rock formations, and an abundance of wildlife are common sites as the train travels West through the wild beauty of Canada’s wilderness. Day 4 - VIA Rail Toronto to Jasper
When you awake on day four, the train will be pulling into Winnipeg, the capital of Manitoba. Winnipeg was originally the hub of the Canadian fur trade as it was well-positioned at the junction of three important rivers. Today, this area known as The Forks is the downtown location for some of Winnipeg's exclusive restaurants, shopping, and live entertainment. 

In the afternoon, the train will cross the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border, signaling the midpoint of the rail journey. The first important town we’ll come across is Melville, named after Charles Melville Hays, President of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railroad Company who died in the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. Spend the day chatting with your fellow travelers and enjoying exclusive access to first-class lounges, dining on superb meals, and delighting in impeccable service. Overnight aboard the train.

Day 5 - Jasper National Park
Awake on day five in Alberta's capital city of Edmonton, often regarded as the gateway to the north because of its historically prominent location in the fur trade, the Yukon gold rush, and the Alberta oil discoveries. Here you’ll get your first glimpse of the Canadian Rockies as you admire the passing scenery, mountain towns, towering forests, and tranquil lakes from your private room or from one of the train's observation decks.

The Canadian is scheduled to arrive in Jasper this afternoon. Located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, this town is known for its majestic mountain peaks and floating icefields. After checking in to your luxury accommodation, spend the remainder of the day hiking or biking the area, soaking in the hot springs, or riding the Jasper Tramway. Overnight in Jasper.

Day 6 - Jasper, Wildlife at Its Best
Today you’re invited to embark on the Discover Jasper tour, which will take you down the trails of the early explorers and offer views of Jasper National Park's unspoiled scenery. The tour begins along the mighty Athabasca Canadian Heritage River where you will learn about David Thompson and the valley ecosystem. Hike above Maligne Canyon with its narrow gorge and limestone walls created by 10,000 years of water erosion and visit a place of mystery and Native legend at Medicine Lake. Keep your camera handy on your adventure to Maligne Lake, the largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies, as you are sure to see a variety of mountain wildlife! Overnight in Jasper.

Day 7 - Jasper to Vancouver 
Rediscover some of your favorite sights on your last morning in Jasper, or embark on a short new adventure. Transfer to the train this afternoon, where you will board VIA Rail's Canadian for the overnight journey to Vancouver. This evening enjoy a sumptuous dinner aboard the train and reflect on your breathtaking rail adventure. Overnight train. (D)

Day 8 - Arrival in Vancouver
You are scheduled to arrive in Vancouver, Canada's third largest city, this morning. Transfer from the VIA Rail Station to your hotel and spend the day exploring this coastal city at leisure. You won't want to miss Vancouver's most popular attractions including Gastown, a 19th century neighborhood with cobbled streets and unique restaurants; Stanley Park and the famed Vancouver Aquarium; the brewery, markets, unique shops, and restaurants on Granville Island; or, the Sunken Gardens in Queen Elizabeth Park, all of which can be seen on your Vancouver Trolley tour. Overnight in Vancouver.

Day 9 - Vancouver
Sadly, your Canada rail vacation comes to an end today. You may wish to extend your stay in Vancouver to fully explore the city and all of its incredible sights, continue your vacation with a jaunt to Victoria or Whistler, or head to the airport for your trip home.
