Tour Description

Enjoy a breathtaking excursion through the Canadian Rockies and visit the must-see stops along the way. Depart from Calgary and head west toward the resort town of Banff. Then experience Jasper National Park and the Columbia Icefield, including a trek across a glacier. After exploring the beauty of Lake Louise, journey onward through wilderness toward Kamloops before spending your final night in Vancouver.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Calgary to Banff
Upon arrival in Calgary you will be picked up at the Calgary Airport for your transfer to Banff. After checking into your hotel the remainder of the day is free to explore the town on your own. Overnight in Banff.

Day 2 – Banff
This morning enjoy an excursion highlighting the town of Banff and its environs. Take a ride on a gondola car (included) to the peak of Sulphur Mountain for a 360-degree view of the Banff Town site and the Bow Valley. Visit Bow Falls before ascending Tunnel Mountain Drive to view Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos, overlooking the Bow River. Continue to Lake Minnewanka, the largest lake in Banff National Park. At Lake Minnewanka enjoy an hour-long cruise (included) beneath the jagged peaks of Mount Aylmer and Mount lnglismaldie to the Devils Gap. Big horn sheep, deer and eagles are often spotted at the water's edge. Return to Banff via Minnewanka Loop with a stop at Two Jack Lake. After the excursion you will be dropped off at your hotel and the remainder of your day is at leisure. Overnight in Banff.

Day 3 – Banff to Jasper
Today's journey travels north along the famous lcefields Parkway, one of the most spectacular highways in North America. Travel through Banff and Jasper National Parks with stops at the Columbia lcefield & Glacier Skywalk. At the Columbia lcefield, enjoy lunch (included) at the Columbia lcefield Discovery Centre. After, board an Ice Explorer and travel onto the icy slopes of the Athabasca Glacier. The ice is 365 metres (1,200 feet) thick - about the height of the Empire State Building. At the icefall below the glacial headwall, take the option of stepping out onto the ice formed from snow that fell 400 years ago. Only a few minutes from the Athabasca Glacier is the Glacier Skywalk. Winner of the 2011 World Architecture Future Projects award, the Glacier Skywalk consists of a 400 metre interpretive boardwalk and a glass-floored observation platform extending 30 metres out over the Sunwapta Valley. The walkway contains interpretive stations highlighting the ecology, geology, glaciology, Aboriginal history and social history of the area. After your adventure, your camera should be ready to capture the majesty of the Athabasca Falls, prior to your arrival into Jasper. Overnight in Jasper.

Day 4 – Jasper
Experience Jasper National Park through the travels of the early explorers and view the unspoiled grandeur. The morning you will begin your excursion along the mighty Athabasca River, learning about David Thompson and the valley ecosystem. En route to Maligne Lake learn about the local Native legends of the mysterious Medicine Lake with its disappearing waters. On your adventure, you are sure to see a variety of mountain wildlife. Overnight in Jasper.

Day 5 - Jasper to Lake Louise
This morning is free to relax and enjoy the scenery. This afternoon, depart Jasper and travel south along the scenic Icefields Parkway to Lake Louise. (Note: this is an express service and will not stop at the Columbia Icefield or other sightseeing highlights.) Overnight in Lake Louise.

Day 6 – Lake Louise to Kamloops
Depart Lake Louise and head west into the province of British Columbia as the highway ascends through the spectacular un-touched wilderness. Stop for lunch in the Alpine Town of Revelstoke. After lunch, continue on your journey. The landscape transitions from rugged peaks to forested hills and expansive lakes. Continue through the desert-like hills surrounding Kamloops. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure. Overnight in Kamloops.

Day 7 – Kamloops to Vancouver
Continue your journey toward Vancouver passing from forested mountains to the dramatic desert scenery of British Columbia's cowboy country. Arrive into Vancouver in the afternoon. This evening, visit Vancouver's newest attraction, FlyOver Canada (included). At its core, FlyOver Canada is a breathtaking, all-ages, flight simulation ride like no other! You will take off into a huge dome screen with the latest in projection and ride technology creating a true flying experience (complete with wind, scents and mist). Overnight in Vancouver.

Day 8 – Vancouver Departure
A morning check out from your hotel ends your vacation.
