Tour Description

This comprehensive tour of the Canadian Rockies loops you through its stunning, mountainous scenery with time to explore the most beautiful cities and natural wonders along the way. Begin your journey in Vancouver, a bustling city full of magnificent hiking opportunities, culture experiences, and dining choices.

The following morning you head into the Coastal Mountains and cruise along the Coquihalla Highway toward Kamloops. Enjoy the quiet interior of this area full of rivers and stunning canyons. You have an evening to enjoy the quaint city of Kamloops.

Then the mountain journey begins again as you approach the Cascade Mountains and trek through the stunning Canadian Rockies. You'll have several days to explore the heart of the Rockies with time at Banff National Park, Lake Louise, and Yoho National Park. Through a mix of guided tours and free time, you'll be sure to take in all the highlights of the area.

Travel along the Icefields Parkway and enjoy the amazing views unique to the area, and even stop for a glacier ride! Next, it's on to Jasper National Park for a tour that combines both hiking and history. You will then head back toward Vancouver with a relaxing overnight train ride. Once in Vancouver, you'll have a full day to explore additional sights of this city, as you wrap up this delightful journey.

    Day 1 - Arriving in Vancouver
    Upon arrival at the Vancouver International Airport, transfer on your own to your centrally located hotel. Learn about Canada through a virtual flight ride at FlyOver Canada, where you'll see the highlights of the country on a four-story screen while you're seated in a suspended chair. Overnight in Vancouver.

    Day 2 - Vancouver to Kamloops
    Depart from downtown Vancouver as the first leg of travel takes you from cityscape, through the lush Fraser Delta Region and the towering peaks of the Coastal Mountains, before entering the Fraser River Canyon. After a lunch stop in Hope, continue upwards to the sub alpine region via the Coquihalla Highway as you watch the landscape change dramatically. Arrive at your hotel in downtown Kamloops, where you'll have free time to explore the quaint downtown scene and enjoy dinner on your own. Overnight in Kamloops.

    Day 3 - Kamloops to Banff
    Today you'll begin winding through the Cascade Mountains. After lunch in the town of Revelstoke, you'll travel through the Canadian Rockies and enjoy brief stops to take in the scenery. At Banff National Park, you'll visit the turquoise Lake Louise, one of Canada’s most recognized features. Overnight in Banff.

    Day 4 - Discovering Banff
    'Discover Banff' on a guided excursion this morning. Highlights include Banff townsite, Surprise Corner and the Tunnel Mountain. Your final stop will be at the Banff Gondola for a ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain. At Lake Minnewanka enjoy an hour-long cruise (included) beneath the jagged peaks of Mount Aylmer and Mount lnglismaldie to the Devils Gap. Big horn sheep, deer and eagles are often spotted at the water's edge. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure to browse through Banff's diverse shops and galleries, discover further with an optional tour, or hike one of the local trails. Overnight in Banff.

    Day 5 - Visiting Lake Louise and the Yoho Valley
    This morning your day takes you past Vermilion Lakes and on to Lake Louise. Highlights along the scenic Bow Valley Parkway include Johnston Canyon, with time to walk to the lower falls, and views of Castle Mountain. You will cross the Continental Divide and enter Yoho National Park (seasonal) with a visit to Emerald Lake. Overnight in Lake Louise.

    Day 6 - Lake Louise to Jasper Sightseeing
    Your full day excursion takes you along one of the most spectacular highways of the world - the Icefields Parkway. With cascading waterfalls, broad-reaching valleys, tranquil mountain lakes, glaciers and snow-capped peaks, amazing vistas unfold with every glance. Stopping at the Columbia Icefield, take time to experience an Ice Explorer ride on to the surface of the Athabasca Glacier. From the Icefield, continue touring on to Jasper. Overnight in Jasper.

    Day 7 - Exploring Jasper
    Experience Jasper National Park by travelling the trails of early explorers and view the park’s unspoiled grandeur. You will begin along the mighty Athabasca Canadian Heritage River learning about David Thompson and the valley ecosystem. Hike above Maligne Canyon, with its narrow gorge and limestone walls crated by 10,000 years of water erosion and visit a place of mystery and Indian legend at Medicine Lake. Overnight in Jasper.

    Day 8 - Overnight Train – Jasper to Vancouver
    This afternoon transfer on your own to the Jasper train station to board VIA Rail's Canadian. The Rockies now serve as a backdrop as you bid them farewell and travel south toward a quiet part of Canada's interior where the two branches of the Thompson River intersect. Then watch as the landscape shifts from the deserts of the interior to canyons and forests, and lush green fields of the Vancouver area. Overnight Train.

    Day 9 - Arriving in Vancouver
    Breakfast is included onboard the train. This morning, arrive in Vancouver and transfer to your hotel (included). On your free day, check out the area's extensive hiking and biking trails, visit one of its great museums or galleries, stroll along The Pier, or enjoy some fresh seafood. There is plenty to do in this beautiful and bustling coastal city. Overnight in Vancouver.

    Day 10 - Departing Vancouver
    A morning check-out from your hotel concludes your vacation.
