Your trip starts with two days to enjoy the sights of coastal Vancouver on your own. The next leg of the tour offers some of the most stunning scenery as you travel along the Icefields Parkway on your way to beautiful Lake Louise, where winter activities and hotel amenities await. Features & Inclusions
Day 1 - Welcome to Vancouver
Arrive in the coastal city of Vancouver and transfer independently to the centrally-located Fairmont Hotel Vancouver - one of the city's most beautiful hotels. After you settle in, spend time exploring this scenic city on your own. Included is admission to the Vancouver Lookout, offering panoramic views of the city. You may also choose to head to Stanley Park for Bright Nights, a stunning seasonal lights display that has been a Vancouver tradition since the early 1900's. Overnight at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
Day 2 - Vancouver at Leisure / VIA Rail to Jasper
After a leisurely breakfast on your own, transfer to the train station (included) for your evening departure aboard VIA Rail's Canadian. As the train begins its journey, meet your fellow travelers in the lounge to bid farewell to Vancouver or settle into your onboard accommodations and let the train rock you to sleep. Day 3 - En-Route to Jasper
When you awake on day three, you'll be met by the majesty of the Canadian Rockies. Admire the passing scenery from the dome car or sit back and relax in your private sitting room. When the train slows to take in Pyramid Falls frozen over, you know you're nearing Jasper. Arrive this morning and meet staff from the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge at the train station for your transfer to this luxury wilderness hotel. Take advantage of a plethora of outdoor activities for the remainder of the day: tobogganing, ice skating, or trekking around the hotel grounds. Or, get some R&R at the hotel spa or visit one of the area’s famed hot springs. In the evening enjoy seasonal activities like a bonfire with S'mores on the shores of Lac Beauvert. Day 4 - Jasper at Leisure
On day four, enjoy the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Amenities at your leisure, or step out and explore what makes Jasper one of Canada’s top tourist destinations. Skate on Lac Beauvert, hike through Jasper National Park, go cross country skiing, ride the Sky Tram, go dog sledding, or visit some of the town's local shops and restaurants. Or, arrange a guided tour of nearby Maligne Canyon, where you can trek through the canyon and see its frozen waterfalls. Overnight at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.
Day 5 - Jasper to Lake Louise
On day five you’ll travel along the Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Lake Louise. This scenic transfer takes you past towering mountains and sprawling icefields including the massive Athabasca Glacier. Sit back and enjoy the scenery as you're transported through winter landscapes to the hamlet of Lake Louise. Days 6 & 7 - Lake Louise at Leisure
Spend two days partaking in a variety of activities taking place in and around the Chateau. You may wish to snowshoe along the Great Divide, enjoy a heritage tour of the Johnston Canyon Icefalls, or go cross-country skiing. Step out and explore the unique shops, pamper yourself with spa services, or relax at the resort with your fellow travelers enjoying movies, games, or a campfire. Day 8 - Lake Louise to Banff
On the morning of day eight, a scenic transfer to the world-famous Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, perched above the beautiful town of Banff and often referred to as the "Castle in the Rockies." After checking in, explore the hotel designed as a Scottish Baronial castle. The rest of the day is yours to explore the area or take advantage of the resorts many onsite amenities, including a spa, skiing, and several dining options. Days 9 & 10 - Banff at Leisure
The next two days are yours to celebrate the holidays in this winter wonderland. Take a short stroll from the hotel and explore the charming town of Banff. Here you’ll discover local galleries and museums, upscale shopping and restaurants and popular local attractions like the mineral rich Banff Upper Hot Springs. You’ll also enjoy a variety of seasonal activities at the lodge, from holiday sing-alongs and cookie decorating to yule log ceremonies and traditional holiday dining experiences. Partake in Canadian 5 pin bowling, heritage tours, ice skating, and much more as you close out your Canadian holiday with a bang. Overnight at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.
Day 11 - Travel to Calgary
On Day 11 you’ll check out of the hotel and bid farewell to the winter wonderland that is the Canadian Rockies. A transfer to the Calgary Airport is included for flights scheduled after 1:00 pm.
Hotels include the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, and Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel (or similar). VIA Rail accommodations are in Sleeper Plus class in a private cabin. Meals are included aboard the train along with exclusive access to lounges and observation cars.
Hotel accommodations are based on availability; substitutes will be of similar quality and amenities.
